5 Standout Client Placements: Celebrating 5 Years of Manon Media

By: MMM Editorial Team

This week, we’re celebrating a major milestone: 5 years of storytelling, advocacy, and PR excellence at Manon Media. Over the years, we’ve worked with incredible clients who’ve entrusted us to help amplify their voices and share their stories with the world. Today, we’re looking back at five top media placements that made a real impact, helping our clients gain visibility, spark important conversations, and inspire change.

When Anthony Miller was wrongfully incarcerated, his life was put on hold for years. After his release, he wanted to raise awareness about wrongful imprisonment and the deep flaws in the justice system. Through our work together, Anthony’s story was featured in major news outlets, helping him find a platform to speak out.

We reached out to our colleagues and connections in the news world to find him a sympathetic reporter and the Democrat & Chronicle's Rob Bell took his time interviewing Anthony and telling history. Because of his dedication, Miller's story was placed on the front page of USAToday and, most recently, he was awarded $3 million by a court for wrongful conviction.

In a time when union efforts are gaining momentum across industries, Jason Greer, the "Union Whisperer" provided insight into the growing unionization movement and landed a prominent feature on CNBC. This placement highlighted the realities of modern labor organizing and positioned Greer as a knowledgeable voice on workplace equity.

We began this pitch by identifying national reporters already covering the growing trend and then pitching angles they had never covered to help their audience learn new perspectives. Attaching to trending national news is a great way to quickly land major coverage.

Media 2070’s groundbreaking work in pushing for media reparations and greater representation of the Black community was featured in HuffPost. This placement not only brought national attention to their cause but also helped elevate the conversation around equity in media ownership. Read the article here.

We began this process, which was more than a year, with a simple press briefing and invited national news reporters from various outlets. HuffPost's Phil Lewis was interested from the very first one, gathering more information and staying the entire briefing. I pitched him a few times and then in June of 2024 explored our top pitches and shaped a unique one for him and Black Voices (a segment of HuffPost). I asked him to do an explainer which would help us build more mainstream conversation. He accepted and sat down with the team for an interview. The resulting piece was seen by tens of thousands and we received more support and notes of gratitude for this work.

Lorina Bourne’s powerful story of a wrongful child removal case in Texas made headlines on ABC News. By helping Lorina share her experience, we brought attention to systemic issues in family welfare and advocated for critical policy changes. Check out the full story here.

We have been pitching this story on-and-off for several years receiving spotty national coverage, which pushed me to think about a press conference. Lorina spoke, sharing her story, and so did her son. This press conference pushed a reporter already interested in the story to get the content she needed and run this version, which was seen on ABC news stations (radio and TV) across the nation!

The Black Future Newsstand, a traveling exhibit showcasing positive portrayals of the Black community, was featured on WGN News. This placement was key in raising awareness of the exhibit’s mission to challenge harmful media narratives and uplift Black stories. Watch the segment here.

This was part of an event and we pitched for event coverage but the reporter was so interested she did several live spots from the Stand, prompting a swell of people to check it out the same day after seeing the coverage!

Reflecting on 5 Years of Impact

These placements are just a few examples of the work we’ve done to amplify the voices of our clients and champion their causes. Each story we share is driven by a commitment to justice, representation, and meaningful change. As we celebrate 5 years of Manon Media, we look forward to continuing this important work and helping more changemakers tell their stories to the world.

Thank you for being part of our journey!
