Racism has a major impact on health. Before you even go to the hospital, the daily microaggressions and outright racism faced by American systems can wreak havoc on your mental, emotional and physical health.
I spent more than 6 months combing through local data from Common Ground Health, interviewing residents and finding the language to both empower people and hold systems and institutions accountable.
I am grateful to every single person who told me their story, revealing personal health details in an effort to improve systems in America. Please be sure to share this report so that these numbers can provide the language/basis of work around the nation.
