The Lilypad East Gallery in Watch Hill is currently showcasing the vibrant and impactful works of Samson Tonton, an artist renowned for his large and colorful pieces that blend cubism with cultural narratives. This exhibit, part of the gallery’s "Summer Soiree Series of Art and Song," runs through Friday.

Samson Tonton stands out in the contemporary art scene with his distinctive cubism style that not only captures the eye but also conveys profound cultural messages. Tonton, who has been featured in an Ebony profile, represents a new wave of Black and Haitian artists breaking barriers and reshaping the art landscape. While the Rhode Island gallery features three of Tonton's paintings, his work is also displayed at the gallery’s sister location, Lilypad West, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In total, curators have acquired 14 of his pieces, providing art enthusiasts across the northern United States an opportunity to experience his powerful art in person.
