Straw & Wool Hat Company Celebrates Four Years in Phoenix:

Upcoming Holiday Brim Ball Brings Community Together for Milestone Anniversary

By: MMM Editorial Team

Phoenix, AZ – Straw & Wool Hat Company, the Black-owned hat brand that gained national recognition during ESPN's Champion Black Businesses initiative, is celebrating four years of being in business. The upcoming Holiday Brim Ball is a chance for owners, Ali Nervis and Henry Dickerson, to celebrate this anniversary with the community, customers and supporters at large.

“We’re here because of the people that support us and we want to include our community in this celebration,” said Nervis, co-owner. “The Holiday Brim Ball is not just a celebration of us, but everyone who’s in this work with us.”

The event will feature a cigar patio, best brim contest, silent auction, and best dressed couple contest. While the duo are excited to celebrate this milestone, they are also focused on long-term goals:

“We’re going to be here 100, 200 years from now. That’s our goal,” said Dickerson, co-owner. He said while he’s proud to be a Black-owned business, he knows that the brand is important to people of all backgrounds. “We started Straw & Wool because we recognized a hole in the market. Now, four years later we have another shop in Los Angeles and we’ve been featured in ESPN. It’s an incredible journey.”

About Straw & Wool: Founded in February 2020, our founders have always had a love for style and each has had their individual experience with selling men’s accessories independently for several years. With Phoenix being such a transplant town having residents from all over the country, many of whom have a deep appreciation for classic hats, the team came together to create a destination for hat lovers and hat newbies alike.
